Business and Human Rights and Corporate duties in general
Corporations and the private sector in general have clear obligations and duties. The sessions are centered on some of key concepts enshrined in the UN Guiding Principles and Business and Human Rights.
Some of the most recent and upcoming legislations, especially in the area of Corporate Due Diligence together with cases studies will also be reviewed. We are also keen to discuss and understand how the negotiations for a Business and Human Rights Treaty are unfolding.
Some of the topics/themes under this are centered on:
- An Introduction to Business and Human Rights, including a detailed review of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
- Understanding the major legislations around the world on Business and Human rights.
- Review and Analysis of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights.
- Review the ongoing proceedings of the Internationally Legally Binding Instrument (Treaty) on Business and Human Rights.
Groundbreaking legislations like the EU corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), the EU Deforestation Law will be reviewed, with the aim of understanding the nitty and gritty of these paramount regulations, including an understanding on some of their limitations.
