Responsible and Ethical AI
The capacity building and expertise opportunities in this area offer an overview on the latest issues and topics emerging from the debate on the emergence of AI, a great opportunity but also a great threat.
In Mid-March 2024, the EU approved the first ever legislation focused on regulating Artificial Intelligence, the AI Act. The USA Government also came up with the Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights with some foundational principles on how to use and leverage AI.
The UN also set up an High Level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence who has come up with an Interim Report, Governing AI for Humanity. At the same time, we cannot forget the discussions on the establishment of a Global Digital Compact as part of the Secretary General led Our Common Agenda.
Moreover, on 21 March, 24, the General Assembly of the United Nations approved the first ever resolution on AI (A/78/L.49).
Some of the topics/themes under this are centered on:
- Understand the ethical and safety related dimensions of AI
- Review and monitor the implementation of the UNESCO Recommendations on AI Ethics.
- Follow the updates of the Global Forum on the Ethics of AI organized by UNESCO.
Through this area, The Good Leadership Academy will help participants answer the following questions:
